In Spring 2017, my capstone group was assigned to leverage AI technology to solve a problem. Through our research we learned that AI is often best utilized when completing repetitive tasks that require some kind of human knowledge. We landed on Xavier, a chatbot designed to help answer advising questions about the New Media Insititue at UGA.
I was technical lead for Xavier, in charge of planning and execution of the product itself. I used Recast.AI, a terrific open source platform for building chatbots. We integrated with Facebook Messenger since the majority of our target demographic already are active on that platform.
